Slovenský obranca a kapitán Boston Bruins Zdeno Chára napodobnil rekord legendy basketbalovej NBA Dikembeho Mutomba. Po tom, ako Matt Cullen ukončil aktívnu kariéru, sa Chára stane nielen najvyšším, ale súčasne aj najstarším hráčom zámorskej NHL.

Dikembe Mutombo bol svojho času tiež súčasne najvyšším aj najstarším hráčom v NBA.

Chára je prvým hráčom v rámci štyroch hlavných zámorských profesionálnych športových súťaží po Mutombovi, ktorý je najstarší aj najvyšší zároveň.

Mutombo s výškou 218 centimetrov a vekom 42 rokov držal uvedené dva primáty v NBA v sezóne 2008-09. Zaujímavosťou je, že práve v tom ročníku Chára získal Norris Trophy pre najlepšieho obrancu v NHL.

Mutombo odohral v NBA dlhých 18 sezón. Je považovaný za jedného z najlepších blokárov a defenzívnych hráčov v NBA. Štyrikrát získal ocenenie pre najlepšieho defenzívneho hráča sezóny, osemkrát bol nominovaný na Zápas hviezd. V januári 2007 prekonal Kareema Abdul-Jabbara v počte zblokovaných striel a dostal sa v historických tabuľkách na druhú priečku za Hakeema Olajuwona. Je druhým najlepším hráčom histórie NBA v počte nazbieraných "triple-double".
